Note-value calculator with recommended-setting suggestions + visual note meter — now with Tap Tempo

METRO V2 PLUGIN is designed to calculate the best parameter candidates for expanders, compressors, and other effects used during mixing and mastering.
In modern mixing, it is increasingly common to derive note-length values from the song's BPM and feed them back into the parameters — letting you optimise dynamics across the whole mix on a note basis.

By moving from a feel-only approach to a note-based one, each track behaves as a higher-grade form of sidechain processing, and the output waveform observed on an oscilloscope follows highly rational behaviour.

The result: musical mixing and mastering become more accessible than relying on intuition alone, and the final signal driving your speakers or headphones is properly shaped.

What's evolved in Metro v2:

  • Tap Tempo: tap the pendulum area to enter BPM intuitively
  • Help Mode: press the ? button to reveal in-place tooltips for every control
  • Major CLASSIC theme polish: dimensional, fine-watch-inspired textures
  • Full V1 session compatibility: projects saved with V1 open unchanged
  • EVERTONE V2 Bundle ready: shares a single license with EXPANDER V2 / COMPRESSOR V2

The Visual Note Meter and ASSIST function are the defining features of this plugin — make the most of them.

3. Visual Note Meter

A pendulum-style meter swings left and right so you can read note values at a glance.

Reaching full left-right travel represents a quarter note; dot markers indicate the 8th, 16th, and 32nd positions.

While shaping kick or snare attack, hold, and release with an expander or compressor, you can confirm visually — in addition to listening — which note value you are targeting.

And because it's easy to read at a glance, demanding clients can follow along too — useful for communication efficiency.

Meter highlights

  • Quarter note: full left-right travel of the pendulum
  • 8th / 16th / 32nd: marked by dots along the path
  • Visual confirmation: read note values by sight as well as by ear
  • Smooth communication: instantly readable for clients too

Visual upgrade in V2

The pendulum rendering has been substantially upgraded in METRO V2. The CLASSIC theme adds fine-watch-inspired textures: gunmetal bezel, 3D-polished chrome pivot, glass pane cells, metallic noise (hairline finish), instrument-dial trail, and more.

Functional accuracy is identical to V1 — only the appearance evolves.

PULSE FLOW SCOPE — New in V2

An alternative visual mode that toggles with the pendulum meter. A single sine cycle is traced from left to right across the window over exactly one period of the selected note value (1/1 through 1/512). A phosphor-green beam sweeps across a muted olive-green LCD-style backdrop, quietly marking the rhythm — calm and easy to read.

How to toggle

A small toggle button appears in the header, just to the left of the CLASSIC theme selector. While the pendulum is active, the button shows a waveform icon; while the scope is active, it shows a pendulum icon. Press to switch between them.

How to read it

  • Window width = one note period: the pen moves slowly for long notes (1/1, 1/2) and accelerates proportionally for short notes (1/16, 1/32, …)
  • Pen trail: a soft tail follows behind the pen as it sweeps smoothly from left to right
  • Motion-blur at fast notes: at 1/32 and faster, the per-frame pen displacement grows large, so the pen tip renders as a continuous streak instead of a discrete dot — eliminating any strobe-like multi-dot artifact
  • Right-edge cycle marker: a thin vertical marker at the right edge of the window glows softly at all times and brightens sharply each time the pen completes a cycle — keeping the rhythm motion readable even when the waveform fully saturates at extreme speeds

DAW sync

When DAW SYNC is on, the scope locks to host tempo and bar position. In MANUAL mode it runs free from its internal timer. Both modes share the pendulum's timing model, so switching between views stays perfectly in phase.

4. ASSIST

ASSIST presents BPM-derived recommended values, helping you pick the right number from the calculation table for your expander or compressor.

ASSIST types

UPWARD EXPANDER
Recommended values for an upward expander.

COMPRESSOR
Recommended values for a compressor.

GLUE COMPRESSOR
Recommended values for bus or master compressors.

Modes

NORMAL
General-purpose values for processors without a DRY/WET control.

ADVANCED
Values tuned for parallel DRY/WET processing, when you want to shape the envelope curve more aggressively.

5. Copy

Clicking a value in the table copies it directly to the OS clipboard.

You can then paste it straight into the plugin's parameter input field for fast updates.

How to use

  1. Click a value in the table
  2. It is copied to the clipboard automatically
  3. Paste into your target plugin's parameter field
  4. Update parameters quickly

6. Panic Mode

Drives the pendulum and pulse from the STANDARD column timing of the tapped table row.

A bonus mode, but especially with short note values it can broaden your perspective on playback timing and the limits of human perception.

Highlights

  • Perspective expansion: experience the perceptual limits of short notes
  • Learning tool: deepen your understanding of human cognitive flow
  • Experimental feature: a fresh take on note-value perception

7. Tap Tempo ( TAP ) — V2 NEW

A new feature introduced in METRO V2. Click the pendulum area to enter BPM intuitively.

How to use

  1. Turn ON the TAP button — the 5th button in the right-side column (below PANIC)
  2. The pendulum area glows blue and shows "TAP TO SET BPM" at the center
  3. Click the pendulum area in time with the music
  4. From the second tap onward, the average interval is calculated as BPM and reflected in the BPM table
  5. Watch the "Taps: N" counter under the pendulum frame for real-time tap count

Specifications

  • Formula: BPM = 60000 ÷ average interval (ms)
  • BPM range: clamped to 30–990 (same as V1)
  • Reset: if tapping pauses for 3 seconds, a new session starts automatically
  • Mutual exclusivity: turning TAP on automatically turns DAW SYNC off, and vice-versa

Visual feedback

  • A blue translucent overlay appears on the pendulum face
  • The guidance text "TAP TO SET BPM" appears at the center (with a soft drop shadow)
  • The "Taps: N" counter is shown in real time under the pendulum frame

The Tap Tempo experience that was well received in METRO_PAD (App Store) has been fully ported to METRO V2.

8. Help Mode ( ? ) — V2 NEW

Read the explanation of every feature right on screen.

How to use

  1. Click the ? button at the top-right of the header to turn it ON
  2. Hover the mouse over any control (button, slider, etc.) for 2 seconds
  3. A tooltip describing that control appears
  4. When you no longer need it, turn the ? button OFF to clean up the screen

No more wondering "what does this button do again?" — and no more flipping through the manual. The same unified UX pattern is shared with EVERTONE EXPANDER V2 / COMPRESSOR V2.

9. UI Themes ( CLASSIC / LUXURY )

METRO V2 ships with two switchable themes. Pick the one that best fits your taste and working environment.

  • Gunmetal bezel
  • 3D-polished chrome pivot
  • Glass pane cells
  • Metallic noise (hairline finish)
  • Instrument-dial trail
  • Letterpress-style numerals

LUXURY
A sparkling-jewel aesthetic. A vivid pink / gold / cyan palette with jewel-style buttons and shimmering effects.

Highlights:

  • Vivid pink, gold, and cyan palette
  • Jewel-style buttons
  • Sparkle effects

Your theme choice is saved with the session and restored automatically on next launch.

10. License ( V2 Exclusive )

METRO V2 uses a new-generation license, distinct from V1. V1 serials cannot authorise V2 — please be aware.

Accepted serial types

MTR2 prefix
METRO V2 standalone license. Issued to users who purchased METRO V2 on its own.

EVT2 prefix
EVERTONE V2 Bundle license. For bundle purchasers of EXPANDER V2 / COMPRESSOR V2 / METRO V2 — one serial authorises all three plugins.

About upgrading from V1

If you already own METRO V1, a discounted V2 serial can be issued from the upgrade site. Please consult the purchase guidance or the EVERTONE PROJECT official site.
The V2 installer automatically uninstalls V1. DAW sessions continue to open as before (your settings carry over).

Session compatibility

  • DAW projects saved with V1 open as-is in V2
  • Parameter IDs / state XML are fully compatible with V1
  • The display name changes from "METRO" to "METRO V2"; functionality is fully compatible
