Unique Pianos and Rare Synthesizers
Introducing this fantastic bundle from Strix Instruments, bringing together their two powerful instruments PRIPYAT Pianos & EMISYNTH. Suitable for the most varied of compositions and productions, this collection provides haunting pianos and unique, rare synthesizers in one combined bundle.
They were Silent for 33 Years
33 years of harsh weather conditions and radiation, 33 years of silence, 33 years of hopeless expectation of human touch. PRIPYAT Pianos is a sound museum, created 33 years after a massive man-made disaster that has affected hundreds of thousands of lives. This is the mark of the elapsed time.
Radioactive Pianos from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone
For seven years Strix Instruments' team has made more than 25 trips to the city of Pripyat for a detailed collection of audio materials. Strix Instruments found and recorded 20 instruments in various parts of Pripyat that are of different levels of preservation and functionality. This amount of instruments was necessary to create a tool suitable not only for sound design but also for writing compositions.
Strix Instruments' goal was to create a virtual instrument that will show the nature of the degradation of instruments under the effects of harsh weather conditions and radiation, yet which also would have the purest sound. All the pianos Strix Instruments could find participated in the creation of the final sound.
An Apartment in Pripyat or a Nuclear Reactor Chamber?
One of the important features of PRIPYAT Pianos is the Impulse Responses collection for Convolution Reverb, recorded in well-known and not-so-known Pripyat sites, including the territory of the tragically known Chernobyl NPP. A series of rooms and open spaces from Pripyat are at your disposal. Some presets are more invisible and will give a light shade to the sound of the instrument, and others will convey the scale of city structures or internal structures of the 5th power unit of the ChNPP.
From 1986 to 2019
Age Knob – a slider that changes the instrument’s behaviour depending on the years of degradation from 1986 to 2019. The regulator allows you to hear the almost untouched sound of notes from 1986. You can add special, lively notes, creating a unique sound with small age changes from 1986 and up, or a radical change installing 2019, which represents the current sound of the instruments at the moment. The sound of 1986 was created using the most suitable pianos and their keys. However, even they have string artefacts that Strix Instruments decided to leave to preserve authenticity.
Beautiful and Simple Interface
Each of the 23 presets is supplemented with a photo of the place where the Impulse-Response was recorded, a brief description and the current level of gamma radiation in that particular location. Simply select the place you like from the drop-down list, touch the keys and feel the atmosphere of the Dead City.
The main elements of control are the distance to the instrument, the ability to shorten the start of samples, adjusting the opening of the instrument lid, the convolution reverb control, as well as more detailed elements in the form of overtones, keystrokes, sustain pedal mechanism, dampers and the layer of sympathetic resonance, which was collected from 20 recorded pianos.
At the end of each trip, shoes and clothes were thrown away or thoroughly washed out taking into account the radiation contamination of the soil, asphalt and dust particles in the air. Unfortunately, radiation accumulates in the human body, summing up to the dose that has already been received and will not be removed from the body throughout life, some isotopes will be active for thousands of years... Strix Instruments shortened their lives to create a truly unique instrument.

A Unique Collectable Library of Synthesizers that Keeps a Print of Time
In this library, Strix Instruments have collected eleven unique Soviet children's synthesizers, which have survived to this day: the age of these instruments is from 30 to 50 years! The sound recording was done from the original speakers of these instruments; thus, the sound is as intended by the designers. It feels like Strix Instruments have put an entire era in a few gigabytes of data.
Imperfect yet Extraordinary
Time and various storage conditions have left their mark on the sound of these synths. Each of them has aged in its own way, which influenced the analogue elements of the instrument and the final sound, which acquired a variety of artefacts. Strix Instruments carefully preserved the characteristic shade of each note for your inspiration and creativity.
Eleven Synthesizers for the Price of One
If you wanted to get the same collection of synthesizers you would spend months in search for them at auctions and from $100 per instrument. Instead, Strix Instruments offer you more than a dozen of synths for the price of one! Moreover, all the instruments are already digitized and recorded in excellent quality.
Find a New Sound in Old Instruments
Strix Instruments don't know the story of these instruments, but they believe that with the help of their sound you can tell your own story! Looking for a piercing, bright, but at the same time pleasant sound? You have come to the right address. Each of these synthesizers will attract attention in a mix, adding a confident and distinctive sound to the track. With the help of fine-tuning knobs embedded in the library, you can independently control each tool.
Beautiful and Intuitive Interface
Strix Instruments did their best to provide you with maximum control over each tool and to keep the library beautiful and easily manageable. Switch between synthesizers, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 80s, create great synthwave or experiment with other genres of music.
Sound from the 80's Flavoured with Time and Radiation
Strix Instruments are here not only to give you the experience of playing the soviet synthesizer but to immerse you into the actual atmosphere of the '80s. To do that, Strix Instruments went to the Chernobyl exclusion zone - the only place on Earth that doomed forever for 1986. Exploring the radioactive streets and buildings, Strix Instruments collected some special Impulse Responses collection for Convolution Reverb.
