SSL Fusion Transformer
Low-Frequency Harmonic Saturation and High-End Sheen
The SSL Fusion Transformer plug-in emulates the Fusion’s switchable SSL Transformer circuit. The 600-ohm, 1:1-wound under-damped transformer introduces low-end thickening and high-end sheen to your signals, giving it a subtle heft as a result of the LF saturation and frequency phase shift introduced by driving the circuit.
Use SHINE to augment or remove the HF phase and EQ effects, turn up the AMOUNT to amplify the harmonic distortion. Both controls can be used to amplify the effects beyond the original circuit. The MIX control allows you to blend with the original signal to dial in the perfect amount of transformer mojo.
In addition to LF EXTEND, which bypasses the dynamic LF roll-off – that is, the natural low-end roll-off that occurs as you drive the transformer circuit - for extra low-end ‘oomph’ and ECO mode for tracking and recording, the SSL Fusion Transformer plug-in also includes built-in help. Simply click the question mark ‘?’ symbol in the bottom right-hand corner and mouse over the GUI for context-aware guidance and information about the plug-in and its controls.

SSL Fusion HF Compressor
Tame Undesirable Harshness in your Tracks and Mixes
The SSL Fusion HF Compressor plug-in emulates the high-frequency smoothing circuit from the SSL Fusion stereo outboard hardware processor.
This compressor only affects only frequencies above the crossover and delivers the distinctive sound of high-frequency rounding. With the ratio, attack and release all optimised for maximum transparency, the smooth compression and tape-like high-frequency roll-off help tame unwanted harshness that can build up in a mix, or with individual stems.
In addition to the features of the original hardware, the SSL Fusion HF Compressor plug-in introduces MIX and AUTO GAIN controls, which allow you to dial in the perfect amount of HF smoothing and apply an automatic makeup gain to the compressed frequencies. Combined with feedback from the Gain Reduction graphs, meter and circuit activity LED from the original hardware, quickly taming harshness is a breeze.
Along with ECO mode for tracking and recording, the SSL Fusion HF Compressor plug-in also introduces a brand-new feature of the SSL Plug-in Engine – built-in help. Simply click the question mark ‘?’ symbol in the bottom right-hand corner and mouse over the GUI for context-aware guidance and information about the plug-in and its controls.
Features
- Modelled on the SSL Fusion HF Compressor processor
- Now available in plug-in form, so you can use it across all your tracks as well as on your mix and master buses
- Delivers analogue-style HF rounding for taming brittle high-frequencies
- Remove sibilance from vocals, sooth electric guitars and tame cymbals in drum tracks
- Very simple THRESHOLD and X-OVER controls for quickly achieving great results
- Ratio, attack and release optimised under-the-hood for maximum transparency
- MIX control help to non-destructively dial in the perfect amount of HF smoothing
- AUTO GAIN applies an automatic make-up gain to the high frequencies – try using it on drums at more extreme settings, to tame harshness while maintaining crispy cymbals
- The Gain Reduction History graph and Gain Reduction meter make it easy to visualise the effect of the circuit
- … or use the classic hardware LED to see when the circuit is kicking in
- Use LISTEN to solo the sibilant frequencies that are being compressed and removed from the signal
- Built on the SSL Plug-in Engine

SSL Fusion Stereo Image
Spatial Manipulation of the Stereo Field
The SSL Fusion Stereo Image plug-in is modelled on the mid-side processing circuit from the SSL Fusion stereo outboard hardware processor.
This true-analogue circuit utilises a technique that separates a stereo signal into two channels: a sum (L+R) for the sounds in the center (M) and a difference signal (L-R) for the sounds on the left and right (S) allowing you to narrow or widen the stereo image using the WIDTH control. The SPACE circuit is a frequency-dependent width control based on the concept of Stereo Shuffling, allowing you to inject interesting depth effects into your mix. Now in your DAW!
SSL Fusion Stereo Image exposes a brand new SHUFFLE control for changing the frequency cut-off in the SPACE circuit, exposes insight into the stereo field of the signal using the built-in polar sample vectorscope, and lets you easily audition the stereo field of the signal using the SOLO SIDE feature – combine this with the SSL Plug-in Engine A/B-ing feature to hear just what a difference SSL Fusion Stereo Image can make to your mixes.
Features
- Modelled on the SSL Fusion Stereo Image processor.
- Based on a concept that has roots in EMI engineer Alan Blumlein's invention of modern stereo in 1931: Stereo Shuffling.
- WIDTH control lets you increase the level of the side signal to narrow or widen the stereo image.
- SPACE control allows you to experiment with a broad bass-frequency boost or cut in the side signal.
- SHUFFLE parameter allows additional tweaking to the frequency cut-off in the SPACE circuit.
- Visualise the stereo image of the signal using the polar sample plot vectorscope.
- Use SOLO SIDE to easily audition the stereo component of the signal.
- Easily drop the input and output meters into mid-side side mode using the ‘M/S’ toggles.
- Built on the SSL Plug-in Engine.
- Exceptional DSP design with reference to the original analogue circuit designs.
- Modelled using a combination of real-life measurements, analogue circuit designs, and close collaboration with the original analogue designers of the SSL FUSION hardware.
- SSL’s cross-platform preset management and A/B-ing system.
