Volt (BEAM Expansion)

Dynamic Analog Distortion for BEAM

Volt is a creative 3-in-1 distortion module designed for BEAM, our multi-effects engine.

Combining analog-inspired saturation, multi-band compression, and digital bitshaping with a dynamic feedback delay network, Volt electrifies anything you plug into it. Add warmth, punch, and unpredictable resonances to any signal, from subtle tube-inspired drive to radical bitcrushing chaos. 

Note: This effect requires the BEAM engine until standalone availability in April 2025.

Turn up the heat.

The Heat Knob introduces a warm, asymmetrical tube-like saturation. Low values provide gentle coloration. Higher values drive the signal into thick, amplifier-style fuzz and overdrive.
Crush with clarity. 

The Crush Knob manipulates underlying audio bits for crunchy digital artifacts and edgy textures. Keep it subtle for added bite and crispiness, or crank it high for glitchy, bitcrushing chaos.

Pack more punch.

The Charge Knob applies a multi-band compression in a similar style to OTT compression. Low settings add subtle brightening and dynamic punch, while higher values deliver a more pronounced, shimmering lift with mild saturation.

Use each algorithm individually, or combine to create your ideal blend of distortion.  Experiment with filters, color and contour, to emphasize details within your mix.

Finesse with feedback.

The Feedback Delay Network in Volt integrates the Heat, Charge, and Crush effects into a dynamic feedback system inspired by the organic feedback resonance of guitar amplifiers. 

• Use the Freq Knob to set delay times for each feedback line.
• Offset delay frequencies with Scatter for rhythmic or chaotic movement.
• Adjust Diffusion to control resonances and shape the timbre.
• The Open Knob lets you dial in the intensity of the feedback effect.
• Finally, the universal Depth Knob provides overall control of your distortion mix.

Combine these controls to take your sound in exciting new directions—from sculpting tight, controlled saturation to expansive, reverb-like resonances.

Time is a creative time stretcher and buffer shuffler designed exclusively for BEAM, Lunacy’s multi-effects engine. 

Time features intuitive sequencers and controls for real-time audio manipulation. Create your own tempo-synced patterns for speed, position, and pitch using state-of-the-art stretching algorithms, and easily combine the Time node with other BEAM effects for the ultimate sound design experience. 

Warp your drums, splice your vocals, and send your synths through the blender.

Tame the tempo

Build complex sequences to alter the speed of your incoming audio. Use up to 16 unique sections for tempo-synced textural stretching and tape stopping.

Shuffle the deck

Rearrange the position and direction of your incoming audio to shuffle and reverse your buffer.

Twist the pitch

Draw arpeggiated tonal sequences and create timbral stretch effects with Lunacy’s proprietary Texture mode, allowing you to control your real-time audio's speed and pitch independently.
