The cab is built of solid granite, and only four of these cabinets exist. They sound like nothing else. A massive, rigid enclosure like the Mahler 2x12 lets more of the speaker driver character come through. Lighter speaker enclosures act more like the body of an acoustic guitar, where the wood type and construction play a big part in determining the overall timbre. That coloration can certainly be desirable, but in the case of speaker cabinets, it means that the character of the speaker elements becomes less distinctive. That’s what makes the Mahler 2x12 so special — its heft and inertia give you the true, uncolored sound of the speaker drivers.
The Heaviest Cab in the World IR Pack has been expertly captured by producer/engineer Jakob Herrmann in his Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden. Jakob has worked with Anthrax, In Flames, Europe, Dark Tranquillity, and countless other bands and artists.
