From Vintage Digital To Lo-fi Destruction
Introducing SSL Digicrush - the ultimate lo-fi digital FX plug-in for evoking the sound of early digital samplers and classic digital effects all the way to full-on digital destruction.
SSL Digicrush delivers the gritty, lo-fi character of classic digital distortion, perfectly emulating the degradation and artifacts of early digital audio. Packed with nostalgia, and heavily influenced by classic digital samplers and effects, Digicrush features built-in jitter control, adjustable bit depth, and sample rate reduction, making Digicrush the ultimate lo-fi plug-in for adding a vintage digital sound to your tracks.
Effortlessly recreate the iconic sounds of early Electronica, Hip-Hop, Jungle, Trip-Hop and much more. Crush your drums, degrade samples, filter synth pads, or saturate vocals. Digicrush is an incredibly versatile production tool that encapsulates the essence of early digital music production, in any modern digital audio workstation.
Features
- Overload - Reduces the quantisation scale, whilst simultaneously increasing the gain at the output. The effect is akin to a ‘blown speaker’.
- Downsampling - Adjusts the sample rate to simulate vintage digital gear, including resampling Jitter as a secondary control.
- Jitter - Introduces random variations in the sample rate. Higher values increase the randomness, adding more jitter to the signal.
- Bits – Sets the bit depth of the audio signal. Lowering the number of bits reduces the audio resolution, adding a lo-fi character to the sound, mimicking vintage digital gear. Settable from 24 down to 1.
- Bit Mode – Changes the sound of the bit depth reduction:
- Gate – Mid-Tread + No Dither
- Destroy – Mid-Riser + No Dither
- Smooth – Mid-Tread (DC Shift) + Rectangular
- Noisy – Mid-Riser + Triangular
- Anti-Aliasing - When enabled, aliasing artefacts introduced by downsampling are reduced by an anti-aliasing filter, resulting in a punchier and cleaner sound.
- Anti-Aliasing Frequency adjusts the anti-aliasing filter frequency relative to the sample rate.
- Anti-Images - Activates or deactivates the anti-images filter for a 'softening' effect when downsampling. When enabled, imaging artefacts are reduced.
- Anti-Images Frequency adjusts the frequency of the anti-images filter frequency relative to the sample rate.
- Mix - Blends the processed and unprocessed signals.
- Output - Applies a gain to the output signal.
