Deep Step-606 has the base synthesizer engine of Deep-606. However, it is played mono-phonically as its sound is completely controlled by the built in step sequencer unit. If you have ever had the opportunity to play with a real hardware step sequencer before (e.g., Korg SQ-10 or Doepfer product*), then you understand the awesome sonic power these types of devices can bring to the table. Many musically inspirational moments can occur just from the happy accidents that happen while playing around with a step sequencer. Deep Step-606 brings this mode of musical composition to the software environment.
Deep Step-606 loads and saves presets created from Deep-606 and Deep Mono. Moreover, any sounds you create in Deep Step-606 will load into Deep-606. Too get a little idea of how fun Deep Step-606 is to play with, please check out the videos below.

Why is Deep Step-606 in a class all its own?
Deep Step-606 has many of the sound capabilities of Deep-606! However, how you access those sounds is completely retro. In short, Deep Step-606 can only produce sound through an old school modeled step sequencer. Let us pretend that you purchased an old 1970's two oscillator synthesizer and an old analog step sequencer at a local garage sale. You bring them home, connect them to your DAW, and fire them up to lay down a track. No midi automation here. Just good old fashion knob twisting while you record the audio in the background. Any bits of audio that you like can be carved up and placed where you want them in a song.
Deep Step-606 is a lot like that garage sale purchase described above. However, Deep Step-606 can load and save patches from Deep-606 and Deep-Mono. It can also sync to the host tempo, apply midi automation and save sequencer step programming as part of a saved song in your DAW! You could not do that with an old 70's synthesizer
The 606 Step Sequencer Unit is a deceptively powerful beast! First, its PPQ timing is modeled after a popular Doepfer* and Analog Solutions* step sequencer units. Second, while it only plays sequences in the "forward" play mode, it provides 4 options of how the notes are played (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 note intervals). Third, the 606 Step Sequencer Unit makes it incredibly easy to set the pitch of the notes played and program killer sequences. In summary, Deep Step-606 is a wonderfully inspirational piece of software that will reward those with the curiosity to tinker!
A special thank you again to the Synthmaker/Flowstone Community Forum for their assistance in developing the sequencer on Deep Step-606. Developers like Trogluddite, Orson, Pall, Nix, and many others published sequencer/gate schematics for review that saved us hours upon hours of labor! The public benefits from this process.
