Exploratory vector synthesizer
Prophet-VS V captures the crisp digital precision and stirring sci-fi sound of an instrument that pioneered vector synthesis. Pick your waveforms, perfect your sound, and explore multiple digital dimensions simultaneously with an enhanced softsynth workflow.
A Prophecy Retold
The razor-sharp precision and overtone-rich sound of digital; the silky warmth and edgy crunch of analog; the flexibility and expressive creativity of software instruments; why choose one when you can have all three?
Prophet-VS V faithfully unites the crisp sound of digital oscillators with the grainy character of analog filters and VCAs, just like its legendary hardware predecessor. This is vector synthesis brought to life in software form, letting you move between hot and cold, rough and smooth, analog and digital - a hybrid relic reborn for effortless modern production.
4-Dimensional Sound
Go beyond crossfading and blending waveforms with Prophet-VS V’s authentic joystick oscillator section. Assign any of the 450+ waveforms to its 4 oscillators, and seamlessly modulate and navigate the near-limitless space between them for a breathtaking sonic spectrum.
Unashamedly Digital
Prophet-VS V channels the crystalline clarity, rich harmonic depth, and icy layered timbres that early digital synths were known for, then runs it through emulated Curtis analog filters and amps for an abrasive hybrid sound, overflowing with aliasing imperfections; perfect for hyperpop, trap, EDM, and ambient sound design.
Automate, Modulate
Prophet-VS V’s sound is all about movement. When you’re not navigating the space between its 4 digital oscillators, employ its LFO groups, flexible envelope generators, and built-in arpeggiator to make your patches dance and evolve in a few clicks.
Simple Yet Advanced
While the original Prophet VS’ digital architecture afforded it plenty of flexibility, Arturia figured a little more wouldn’t hurt. Take its sound further with tasteful enhancements to original features like the mixer envelope, plus extra modulation and built-in effects - without over-complicating your flow.
The Future Was Digital
At the start of the ‘80s, analog was dominating. But the introduction and gradual widespread adoption of microprocessing foreshadowed a massive change that would shape not just keyboards and synths of the future, but the very music they were designed to make.
Legendary synth designer Dave Smith and his team at Sequential Circuits had been early advocates of microprocessor technology, putting them to use in the Prophet-5 to program and store presets. By the mid-80s, single-cycle waveforms were becoming the go-to for low-memory sound generation. Smith envisioned a way in which this technology could be used to create detailed sound combinations, and in 1986, this vision became a reality with the Prophet VS.
Preset Library
For when you need quick results, Prophet-VS V comes equipped with a library of expertly-designed presets for any style. Hone in on the sound you need in seconds without interrupting your flow.
Find Your Vector
Set a course for a vibrant trip through the sought-after sounds of vaporwave, hyperpop, future bass, ambient film scores, and beyond.
Explore digital sound on an unprecedented scale, with millions of possible waveform combinations, and a multi-dimensional spectrum to discover within each combination with the joystick and modulation interface. The sonic possibilities of this vector synthesis machine are staggering.
Put simply, Prophet-VS V lets you immerse your projects in the fluorescent keyboard tones of the ‘80s, the knife-edge sounds of hardcore and future pop, the iconic suspense of sci-fi soundtracks, and universes beyond.
What's Been Added?
If 450+ waveforms and a host of slick digital-synth-inspired features weren’t enough, Arturia expanded Prophet-VS V with a little more of the stuff you might need.
Envelopes View
Combine and customize with an expanded version of the original hardware’s Mixer Envelope, designed to draw unique shapes with the joystick, or deep-dive with 2 additional envelope types.
Modulation View
Prophet-VS V’s triple Function Generators are your modulation blank canvases. Whatever shape, movement, loop, or chaos you desire, this is how you’ll get there. Better still, this tab is where you can tie all of your modulation together with the Mod Matrix.
Effects View
Ensure that Prophet-VS V sits in your mix and delivers the sonic goods with 16 built-in FX. That’s 16 powerful, stirring, atmospheric final touches for your synth parts, with 3 slots at your disposal.
