Plugin Boutique’s Radio brings the world of internet radio stations to your productions. Alex Holmes tunes in…
Radio key features:
- Direct sampling from internet radio stations
- Load from curated lists or from any radio URL
- Highlight snippets, save, then drag-and-drop audio
- 24 Speaker FX and Random station button
- VST, AU and standalone
Radio is a new plug-in that runs in your DAW or in standalone mode, and allows you to listen to and quickly sample snippets from internet radio stations. In use, a large waveform view shows the last 30 seconds that have been live streamed, and you simply highlight sections that you want to sample, hit save, and then you can drag them direct to your arrangement.
The stations are well curated to offer a wide and obscure range of different styles including anything from jazz, rock, and world music, to spoken-word sci-fi, police scanners and more, with a useful Random button to spark creativity.
There are also 24 great-sounding speaker effects that can be applied to give your samples a vintage or lo-fi sound – “24 processors to make your feed sound like it’s coming through a genuine tube radio speaker, car stereo, phone or another device”, is how Plugin Boutique describes them. Putting to one side the moral minefield of sampling and copyright, this is a fun, useful and easy to use plug-in.
Summary - 10 / 10 Excellence
An excellent tool for coming up with new ideas and pushing you to be more creative with your sampling.
